Orders

The orders VordCore accepts, how each is signed and sent, and what the chain does with it.

Order types

TypeHow it works
MarketFills at once against the book. It carries no price; it is signed with price 0.
LimitRests on the book at its price until it fills or is cancelled (good till cancelled).
Post OnlyA limit order that only rests: if it would fill at once, it is refused.
IOCImmediate or cancel: fills what it can at once, the rest is cancelled.
FOKFill or kill: fills completely at once, or not at all.
Reduce onlyA flag on any order: it may only make a position smaller.
TWAPOne large order split into slices over a chosen time (TWAP).

Post Only, IOC and FOK are sent through the batch route, POST /order/batch-signed (REST reference). Market and Limit can be sent alone with POST /order/place.

Stop and trigger orders are not available on the main network: an order with a trigger is refused before it is signed by the SDK, and by the main network if it reaches it. The testnet accepts them (testnet only); these pages do not document them.

Who signs

An order is signed by the account itself, by a trading key (a session) the account opened, or by an agent key — an agent is a session key with a registration and a policy (Agents). The trading key never holds funds and can never withdraw.

Prices and sizes

  • A price is signed as an integer with 8 decimals and kept to 6 decimals; send it in the body as a decimal number. The oracle reads (/oracle/{pair}) carry 6 decimals — multiply by 100 to compare with an order price.
  • A size is an integer with 18 decimals, sent as a decimal string (size_18dec).
  • Each market can set a price step (tick) and a size step (lot). Right now these are —. A price must be a whole number of ticks and a size a whole number of lots: the network answers 202 to an order that is not, and then does not apply it. Read both from GET /markets/specs before you price an order.

Nonces

Every order carries a client nonce: the time in milliseconds works. It must lie within a window around the chain's clock and each value is used once per account; a reused nonce answers 409. Your nonce is also how you find your order again in the open orders.

Modify

POST /order/modify replaces a resting order: the new order gets a new id and joins the back of the queue at its price. Pair, side, leverage, type and flags stay the same. If the new order could not rest, the old one stays.

Cancel, cancel all, batches

  • POST /order/cancel cancels one order by its id.
  • POST /order/cancel-all cancels every open order of the account, on one market or on all of them.
  • POST /order/batch-signed carries up to — actions in one signature: places, cancels and cancels by client nonce. Cancels apply first, then each place on its own; the answer lists each action as accepted, refused or will_be_refused with a code.

The dead-man switch

POST /schedule-cancel arms a time. If you do not move it forward before it passes, the chain cancels every open order and TWAP of the account and refuses new orders until you arm it again or clear it. Take-profit and stop-loss settings are kept. The time must lie between 5 seconds and 24 hours ahead of the chain's clock, and it can be moved at most once a second — refresh it every couple of seconds from a healthy process, never faster.

Market Maker Protection

POST /account/mmp sets a window and limits — fills, filled value, net size. When the account reaches one inside the window, the chain cancels its orders and freezes new ones for the time you chose.

TWAP

A TWAP order is signed by the account's own key — never by a trading or agent key — and placed with POST /twap/place. The chain places one slice per interval; the slices can be randomised. Optional price bounds end the TWAP when the mark leaves them, and a trigger can hold its start until a price is reached. A TWAP pays ordinary fees on each slice and no fee of its own. Its limits — duration, slices, slippage, minimum value — are published in the network spec's twap section and checked before anything is signed.

Take profit and stop loss

POST /tpsl/set sets a take-profit and a stop-loss price on an open position. It can also be attached to an order that fills at once (Market, or Limit IOC/FOK).
